Jadranska Magistrala (Adriatic Coastal Highway D8)
One of the most exhilarating coastal motorcycle roads in the Mediterranean basin. The Senj to Karlobag section of the D8 is carved into bare white limestone cliffs of the Velebit mountains plunging straight into the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea, with views of Pag island. Toll-free (unlike the inland A1 highway). Open year-round. Caution: the fierce Bura (Bora) mountain wind can strike without warning, gusting over 100 mph, throwing salt spray and forcing bridge/highway closures.
