Abra Málaga Pass (Sacred Valley to Amazon Descent)
One of the most dramatic topographic motorcycle descents on Earth. Climbs out of the Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley up to a snow-capped Andean pass at 14,160 feet (4,316m) beneath Nevado Verónica, then plunges over 10,000 vertical feet through 300 continuous switchbacks into the dense, humid Amazonian cloud forest of the Urubamba basin. Freezing alpine hail transitions to tropical jungle in two hours.
Cañón del Pato (Duck Canyon 35 Tunnels Road)
Where the snow-covered peaks of Cordillera Blanca and the black jagged rock of Cordillera Negra converge to within 15 meters of each other. The road is chiseled into the sheer granite canyon walls hundreds of feet above the roaring Santa River, passing through 35 unlit, single-lane tunnels hand-hewn directly through solid rock. Headlights, horn-honking on blind tunnel approaches, and total composure are essential.
