Opened in 1945 specifically designed for scenic motoring, featuring 26 stone bridges, natural rock galleries, and sweeping cambered switchbacks with views of the hanging Steingletscher glacier. Summits via a short tunnel at 2,224m (7,297 ft). Toll-free cantonal road. Closed November through early June. Completes the world-famous Central Swiss Pass Trinity with Grimsel and Furka.
