The highest mountain pass road in Northern Europe, cresting at 1,434m (4,705 ft) across the roof of Norway in Jotunheimen National Park. Rides past the blue ice of Smørstabbreen glacier and towering 2,000-meter peaks before descending via sweeping switchbacks to the turquoise waters of Lustrafjorden. Toll-free. Closed November to early May; during the spring opening in May, the road is carved between vertical snow walls reaching 5 to 10 meters high.
